I'm wondering if I should turn this into a video thing to make it easier and less
time consuming. I'll consider it.
I can remember playing all of the Resident Evil games with Mike.
He would scare the everloving crap out of me too. What can I say, it was a
spooky set of games. They've changed to more of a shooter style, and in some ways,
it is cool, but I still miss my spoky puzzles. Some will argue that they still exist
but give me a puzzle where I have to go all over and get different pieces like
crests, rooks and jewels that need to go into a statue's eyes.
This post is now uselsess. Discard?

I've gotten a lot of questions as to where I've been lately. I've been around here
and there. Unfortunately, most people I don't even get to talk to anymore because
I've been so busy with work and school. I think most people have forgotten that
I'm a full time student, despite being out of the house for +65 hours a week for
work. I think that people forget that my priorities are work and hockey. I think
that people forget that I have no time during the week to attend to responsibilities
and that I have to take care of them on weekends. I'm a very busy person, so if
I'm absent for a period of time, tough.
This weekend, I got Netflix hooked up through the Xbox and I have to say, "Awesome!"
I love it. I can hop online, stream something to the xbox, and have it play in the
background, even if I'm not really watching it. It isn't a 24 hour thing, or a one
time watch thing either. For like 9 dollars a month, you can watch as much as you
can handle. Awesome!

As I sit on the train, I realize I haven’t really told anyone about my recent trip
to Florida. Sorry – I just have been busy. I went down to Florida for two days,
and stayed in a hotel right on the beach in Fort Lauderdale. It was a really nice
area down there. On my way from the airport, I saw something that I wasn’t prepared
for – a lizard crossing the road. I’m used to the typical raccoon, deer, and even
opossum but I wasn’t prepared for a lizard.
The weather was nice, but humid the first day and sunny. The stereotypical pictures
of Florida are true. There are palm trees everywhere, and all of the houses are
that nice. There were parts that were run down, but no big deal. Other stereotypes
that are true – lots of old people, bad drivers, ugly girls and douche bag guys.
What surprised me in my flight over the state was that how it was laid out. You’d
have a very urban area on one side of the road, and a swamp on the other side. I
hear that the people who live off the coast are pretty crazy anyway, so I didn’t
even want to check out those areas.
I caught a Florida Panthers/Tampa Bay Lightning game down there as well. That was
fun. It was cool to see another arena, and a different type of show than what I’m
used to. It did make me appreciate how good the Blackhawks are about certain things
like that. It shocked me when I saw they were starting the second period and there
were still pools of water on the ice. I wonder if it is that the ice staff doesn’t
know what they’re doing, or if the heat and humidity really makes it that difficult.
With all of that said, I did take only a few pictures while I was down there but
not as many as I would have liked. It’s a nice area that I could understand why
people want to live there. But the hurricane evacuation route signs say that you
shouldn’t be living there. As someone who prefers not having to worry about mother
nature very often and prefers having multiple seasons (especially winter), I wouldn’t
move there.

How about them 'hawks?
Lots going on. Went to Fort Lauderdale. Did a lot of work lately. Lots of new video
games. Lots of new stuff going on. Can't wait for a few days off to focus on the
DVD and get you guys some content to check out.

Looks like I may be going to Florida for a couple of days. More on that later.
The Blackhawks are starting to disapoint me in some areas, but excite me in a way
as well. I think they have a legitamate chance at making the playoffs, but more
than likely won't. They've shown flashes of greantess at times, and badness at others.
Slacker thinks you smell bad. Take a shower.

I had a really shocking day. At work, the individual who I worked closest with was
let go. It really disapointed me. I'm still in shock by it, and will have to sleep
on it before it really has set in.
I got a new camera last week. Check out
my pictures.
Word to your mother.

Found out today Alexei Cherepanov died today. For those of you who don't know, he
was an NHL prospect. He died playing hockey, and was 19.
I watched the video of him being carried off the bench, and it was the hardest videos
to watch, ever. I can watch almost anything and laugh, yet it was very depressing.
Don't know why he died, but they tried to get his heart going again, and they couldn't.
Real bummer.

The transition is almost complete of the site. there really is a lot of grunt mundane
work that I just don't want to do. Because of that, I started the section for the
newsletter, so let's talk about that. I'm in the process of creating a tool to allow
users subscribe to a newsletter. This will allow me to spam.. I mean keep you updated
on what's going on. I think this ultimately will be good for the site because it
will keep people coming back. It is entirely database driven, which is nice. That
leads me to the next part which I plan on doing after the train ride home, which
is setting up the database.
By the time I get home, I'll have the entire DVD section converted over, and that
is a big accomplishment because it is so complex. I also noticed that all of the
links in the blog are broken, so that means I have to go through and fix those.
GREAT!

I feel the need to remind myself and everyone the intentions of what LarryGasik.com
is. The site is not about me. That is what it did become. What it was intended to
be was a playground, and a way to show off work and tools. The structure of it did
not agree. It just got off track.
Hence the quick and rather child-like design. First of all, I like the fact that
I will be able to use more than three colors and have it fit in. Second, the design
is ultra simple as I didn't want to really put a whole lot of restrictions on what
was going on. Third, it is 100% back-end driven, meaning building it will suck,
but maintaining it will be easier. Things to look forward to: Mailing list, Site
Driven Emails, Membership, Picture gallery, Event calendar, increased blog functionality.
So an update as to what I've been up to. Right now I'm in a really solid system.
I wake up, go to work, come home, and do hockey or school work depending on if hockey
is available (Blackhawks game, playing, etc).

Wow, it has been a while since I've typed here. I'd like to commit to saying I'll
be here more often but that's a little difficult to do. I want to say I'll try,
but I have in the past and it didn't last very long. So anyway... let's go over
what's been new since I've left.
Hockey - I play Mondays and Tuesdays now. Probably on Sundays shortly. That's a
great feeling. Unfortunately I really feel it after playing two days in a row. The
place I play at Tuesdays isn't the best to play, because everything is unforgiving.
The floor is hard, so it hurts my back. It is probably time for new skates, but
I want to put that off as long as possible. I'd just get new wheels, but my skates
are shot, and I'm missing a bolt here and there.
Health - My lung did collapse at the end of April, but everything is back to normal.
I went in at my heaviest ever at 141 pounds, and came out at 132. I'm back to about
140 now, so that's good. I've been trying to gain weight, but it seems that has
nothing to do with my lung collapsing. Those doctors lie. Bottom line, I have a
doctor's appointment tomorrow to confirm that everything is good.
I've recognized my use of caffiene is not acceptable, and it is time to get rid
of it. Again, I won't commit to not having it, but I'm going to try my best. I've
been on and off over the past year or two, and I think now is the time that I can
finally get rid of it. So no more Pepsi, Red Bull, Chocolate, or anything else.
Did you know they make soaps and shampoo with caffiene now?
Tuesday, February 19, 2008
Dum dee dum. Yeah.
I'm going to try and play hockey tonight... I suck.

Shiver my timbers!
I have been waking up earlier and sleeping goofy again. Yet again, I was up at 1:00
until about 4:00. What a bummer. I was doing just organizational work. Printing
out homework and preparing for the day. I've got like 20 minutes until class but
I really don't feel like going. It sucks.
So back to my late night habbits because I don't want to do anything. The house
is always cold when we go to sleep. we turn the heat down. But because of that,
I get a little cold. The result, I sit in my desk, with a ski mask on. You really
don't feel it at all when you're working. it is a snug fit. I have one that isn't
as tight, and it isn't.. right. It gets in the way or something. I can't remember
what I didn't like about it. But I think it'd be pretty funny if someone walked
in.. "Why are you wearing a ski mask?" so I could respond, "I'm commiting cyber
crimes, and I don't want anyone to see what I look like."
I'm off to throw rocks at cars. Not Really.

Oh man...
Well hello! Good morning, afternoon, evening, or whatever it is. I can already tell
my body clock is out of whack. This week will be crazy. I've got a huge project
due Friday that isn't really started, and another project that is almost done due
Thursday. There is also another thing going on that I'd rather not make public just
yet. Adding too it, I've been running low on sleep, and I'll tell you why. I've
been trying to be more time efficient. Part of it is exercise. I'm thinking that
you getting blood flowing. It also tires you out and makes you enjoy sleep. But
I've been waking up earlier because I need time to actually do it, so I'm even more
tired.
I can deal with all of that. That's easily managable. You just need to stop, think,
and manage your time well. What makes it difficult is that when you do wake up,
that there's problem. Maybe it is that the room is overly cold, and you're incredibly
warm in your bed. Maybe the problem is that your eyes hurt from the reflection of
the snow in your room, making it brighter and such. I've experienced all of these,
and the worst is by far the pain in my chest and/or back. Man does that suck, because
you know it'll be like that all day. Real bummer. It is a different if you're sore
from running or stretching. That's a good pain.

Dull back pain, all over That’s what I’ve been experiencing the past week. Kind
of a bummer but you have to ignore it. Everyone has back pain.
As you may have seen, we have some new videos on YouTube, prank calls! I know they’re
incredibly immature, and they’ve been done, but they’re fun. I’m working on creating
my own soundboard for them so that I can substitute in whatever sounds I want. It
is almost done. I need about 20 more sound clips, and I’ll start using it. I could
use it now, but I rather have everything available.

I want to talk hockey for a little bit. I haven’t talked Hawks in a while because
I’ve been rather angry at the fans, and let me explain why. What drew me to becoming
a hawks fan was the fact that the fans were smart. They had a brain. They recognized
that their team sucked, and what were smart moves by other teams.
So why am I upset at the fans? For the past few years, I’ve been contributing to
the discussion more and more, and there were two key points where I got angry. The
first was the Havlat deal. This was something like Barinka, Bell, a 2nd for Havlat.
I said Bell was a goner and overpaid anyway. Barinka helps get rid of the then jam
on defense. And Havlat is one of the most exciting players in the NHL. I said it
was a good deal, but I was concerned about two things. Havlat’s attitude, and health.
I’m not a big fan of anyone who kicks a player in the groin. In my opinion, he should
have been suspended for 82 games, the equivalent of one NHL season, but that’s beside
the point. Maybe it is me, but it was clear that Havlat was injury prone, and that
was the big thing. I totally got ripped by other fans for questioning Havlat! The
deal was good, but I questioned Havlat, and they totally ripped me. Another was
the end of the year, what we’d get for players. With the exception of a couple players,
I was right. Aucoin traded in the off season, and Cullimore was gone. I said we’d
get a 2nd for Smolinski, and a few other things which we later would, but I was
accused of wearing rose colored glasses.
Why am I upset now? Well Havlat is having his fourth (I think) injury since he came
to Chicago, and now they’re on his case. People are saying we should trade him.
And what’s angry is I wrote down the names of the people who ripped me, and I can’t
find their exact quotes, but those are sort of the things I remember.
They’re also roller coaster fans, almost like bandwagon fans. One minute they’re
on top of the world, they’re going to the playoffs, and such. The very next game,
the same people are claiming that the team isn’t going to the playoffs, they’re
awful, etc. I read multiple idiots claim that we should trade Patrick Kane. Going
into the season, the goal was playoffs, and while I didn’t think it’d happen, it
was a reasonable goal! The predictions for Sharp were 15 goals. He’s close to that
less than half way through the season. I remember them saying to trade him. They
know want to give him a multi year deal at +$3 million. They’re now multiple points
out of a playoff spot, and have a ton of teams fighting for those last few spots.
The hawks had a bad streak, and that’s what caused them to drop. When you
have about 12 teams fighting for 8 spots, a bad week will knock you out of the running
for it.
The point is that they’re roller coasters. I don’t get it. Yes, celebrate when they
win and get on their case when they mess up, but be consistent! I also think I’m
part of the problem. I think I read into things, and remember what they say too
much. I think I’m done with forums for a while… Just news

Very sore from shoveling snow, and hockey. I got hit lots and stuff. Feels ok. I
do some stretching and I'm better.
Today, I went out to lunch with a frend. I had the... I can't remember, but it was
their special chicken. I can't remember what it was called. But I remember being
hesitant because of what it was cooked with, but it was chicken, with grilled onions
and noodles, and something else that was good.
I'm going to the Bulls game tomorrow with my brother, that'll be cool.
I put sound in the webcam, and worked on some of the new DVD stuff. Fun stuff.

Woo! What a week. I just want to talk a little bit about the DVD. It is progressing.
However we did hit a snag. You may have heard I did snap the head off the tripod.
This happened because when I was using it, it was outside, frozen... the plastic
becomes brittle and thus, it is easy to break. Right now it is useable, but I'm
probably better off using the two legged tripod.
Havlat returns tonight to the Blackhawks. Yay.
I got new glasses today. Greatness. I also tried peppermint ice cream from Baskin
Robbins! AWESOME! I am getting a little sick though in my throat. Not good. Alright.
Got lots to do. Have a good day.

Welcome to the United States of America. Let me tell you a little about it. Our
first president was George Washington. There are only fifty states, and the Atlantic
Ocean is on the east coast, while the Pacific Ocean makes up the west coast. Did
I mention that our official language is English? Yes -our official language is english.
When you live in the United States, you speak english. I don't care if you know
Spanish better, and the other person you're talking to speaks Spanish fluently.
Don't watch television stations that are Spanish. Infact, watch English stations
with English subtitles. Why do I say this? Because many people cannot speakin English.
How are we supposed to communicate when we don't speak the same languages well?
Now if I move to Russia, you bet your butt I'll be learning Russian. It is only
curtious. There should be no other option. I shouldn't have to press one for English
- when I call the U.S. Government!
Now I understand that when you're learning English, it can be difficult. I won't
argue. But try. You'll pick it up. If you don't understand, stop, ask questions.
We will understand if you try. Trying is not speaking in chinese to your kids at
home. You're actually hurting it because then your children won't be able to speak
English.

I had a very bad day. Not cool. And there was no reason for it. It is like saying
it was a bad day because it wasn't good. You can have a good day without good things
happening. I guess I've just been irritated with school, and Rudy. I tried to play
Halo to blow off steam but I couldn't do it because it just made me more irritated.
No way to eliminate frustration. Time off will change that.

I post from a brand new Vostro 1700 laptop. So far, very pleased. More on that a
little bit later. We've gotta talk about Rudy. Rudy has been very sick for the past
week or two. I took him to a new vet about 45 minutes away, and am finally pleased
with the answer that they gave me. This vet checked him out, found it, and clearly
explained what was wrong. He's got a pinched nerve in his back. He could tell because
there's a dip in his spine. It causes him to tense up, and thus all the symptoms.
He's on pain killers and anti-inflammatory (steroids). The only thing that'll heal
it is rest and the inflammatory stuff. He also got a shot of cortozone, which should
help kill the pain. Considering Rudy lays around all day, staying still shouldn't
be a problem.
But he already looks much better. He's knocked out now.. and the look on his face
is exhaustion.
Very happy with this vet... He will be Rudy's new regular vet. Any vet who walks
into the room, and says, "Hi, Rudy, How are ya?" is ok with me.
Yesterday, the laptop arrived, and I'm pleased so far. I couldn't be more pleased.
I haven't had a true chance to test its power yet, but there are some interesting
things. The most recent thing I found, I was shocked that it was fixed. In Dreamweaver
CS3, when you go to edit a site, the dialog box that shows up typically takes about
45 seconds to show up. And this wasn't just XP.. It had that problem on OSX too.
Not on Vista. It comes up very quickly. I don't understand why that is. I will probably
spend some time on the internet to look it up. Of course, this has to do with the
OS, and not the laptop. So far, the actual hardware, I'm pleased. The keyboard is
a little deformed (the keys are about 80% the size of a normal board which is aggervating
as I miss every other letter). The bios of it has a great interface. It has tons
of ports, a number keypad and big screen.
Now, I have run out of time. I must go, and work on the new DVD. Detroit sucks.
Say hello to your mom for me.
Tuesday, November 13, 2007
I did order that laptop. Should be here Thanksgiving.
Hawks beat Detroit. Good! Detroit Sucks!
I got out my Sears Card, and paid it today (Just go with me on this). I realised
that I hate this card, and never really have a good use for it anymore. So i decided
I'm going to cancel it. But I can't cancel it until the payment clears, right? So
I took out a silver sharpie and wrote cancel on the card.. as a reminder to cancel
it. It was hard to see, since the card is a light blue. I got out the Dark green,
and tried to make it stand out a little bit.. then I spent the next twenty minutes
or so just drawing on the credit card, and thinking about what would make it look
cooler. It isn't anything impressive, but its like the first artwork ive done in
a long time. I'll keep iot around and scan it once the card is fully canceled. It
just no longer serves the purpose that it once did. What an interesting canvas.
I had to delay the members page for personal reasons. It'll be done.
Also, the cam has been off the past couple days. I've needed privacy. Respect it.
The cam should be back up and running normal now as I've turned it back on.
Winners respond. Losers react.
Sunday, November 11, 2007
Ok, We’ve got a little bit that I probably should tell you. First, let’s talk about
Rudy. Rudy has been sick the past couple of days. It happens every once in a while.
We’ve taken him to the vet for it twice, and each time they said it was gas. I take
him for a walk and he moves and wags his tail, and that’s the only time he does
move and doesn’t cry. He’s ok today.
Next, let’s talk about a new project I’m starting. It isn’t a DVD or anything –
and most of you won’t take interest in it, but I’m telling you anyway. This will
be the biggest web development project I’ve ever developed by myself. Usually there’s
a team of about 3 that work on it, but not here. Instead, the one person I’m working
with will give me feedback, and not be doing anything else. Let me explain – I’m
developing some online program type thing. A few years back, I ran a hockey league.
People would make trades with each other, look at the statistics of players, the
standings of their teams and so on. So if I already did this 5 years ago, why am
I doing it again now? This will be entirely database driven. What’s that mean? Ease
of maintenance, speed and TONS of information. I used to have to spend a few hours
a night just doing basic stuff. The system almost completely automates it. I would
receive an email every night that I simply print out and use to maintain the software.
Maybe in the future, I automate even that, but baby steps. I wouldn’t have to touch
the website. It is a lot of work, but it’ll be great practice.
Next, let’s talk about what I did yesterday. I was at Best Buy, Office Max, and
Circuit City. I checked out a lot of stuff. Rock Band looks lame… I thought it’d
be great though. I saw something I was in shock of. I found a 3CCD High Def Camera
with a hard drive for $1500 I was in shock. I didn’t even realize they were making
consumer high def cameras. But it is great to see that they are. Unfortunately,
I cannot afford to upgrade, and I know that the majority of my fans do not have
high def TV’s. Some are still asking for VHS copies of DVDs. Not happening. Maybe
when I’m done with school, I’ll pick one of those suckers up. Lots of time though.
Finally, let’s talk about something that is a little more – relevant. While at Best
Buy, Office Max and Circuit City, I looked for laptops. If you’ve talked to me lately,
you know that I’ve been in the market for a new laptop for over 3 months. With the
day after Thanksgiving sales coming, and Christmas, and such, now is the time to
look. I found the Black Friday advertisements for Circuit City and Best Buy. Nothing
on sale is close to what I want, at the price that I want. Dell is though. I found
a great coupon for a Vostro 1700 that I really like and wouldn’t be shocked if I
order it within the next 24 hours. Why’s this relevant? The laptop will allow updates
to LarryGasik.com from everywhere the laptop is. It will also allow me to work on
DVDs while I’m on Vacation – something that will be nice while I’m house-sitting
for people.
Alright, that’s it. That’s all we’re going to talk about. The hawks play Detroit
tonight, at home, on television. Detroit Sucks!
Thursday, November 08, 2007
Let’s talk about the different websites going on in the Gasik Network, as they seem
to be causing some confusion, and there’s a lot of other things going on too. We’ll
start from the beginning.
I bought Gasik.com in October
of 2001. For a while it just sat there as I didn’t know what to do with it. I had
created websites using free tools like GeoCities and such, but nothing as advanced
as my own site, without any tools. Three months later, after doing research, and
talking to people, I finally got something up there. Eventually, I learned Front
Page, and built a small, fun site. It was based on my family. At the same time this
was going on, I was running a hockey league. The site was hosted on GeoCities. Eventually,
I moved the site from GeoCities, to a subdirectory of Gasik.com. After analyzing
what I could do, and what I was doing, it was clear that I could build a better
page than I could with geocities. The hockey league took off, the family site didn’t.
I was getting +100 hits a day for the hockey site, and maybe one or two for the
family thing. The hockey site then took over Gasik.com.
Family members then got in an uproar over it, and I bought a separate URL for the
hockey site. Eventually I grew tired of the hockey site, and I no longer did it.
I then eventually started to get better, making better pages, better designs. People
who needed small sites came to me and I did sites for them. Unfortunately, I didn’t
have anyplace to stage them. Gasik.com hits at a low, I replaced it and used it
as a test site. Three months later, someone commented on that. Someone finally noticed.
I then built it again, something fresh and new. The most recent design was
finished in August of 2005. The addition of a forum made it continue to get hits,
however I was the only one who steadily participated in it. The creation of the
DVD’s helped get people to the site, so hits were at an all time high – but most
of them came from the DVD’s. People loved them.
I wanted to put more content up about them and myself, without it seeming like the
site was all about me. After all, the site was about the Gasik Family, and not just
me. So instead, I purchased LarryGasik.com, and made sort of a spin-off. I try to
make it obvious that the two are linked, and together, but sometimes I don’t communicate
that well.
I do a lot of different projects that I want to showcase, but if I feel like no
one sees them, I won’t be as excited for the next project. It was all about getting
better. LG.com has new projects LINED UP! I have no problems doing stuff like
this as long as I’m not building it just so I can look at it. If one person sees
it, Fine.
LG.com gets way more traffic, isn’t nearly as established, and has more potential,
so it gets more attention. Gasik.com will still get updates, but not like LG.com
If anyone were to additionally contribute to Gasik.com, I’d be GLAD to contribute
just as much.

I took an hour or two break today from real work and similar activities to work
on the DVD and the video I worked on is awesome so far. It is a fun song, it is
a fun idea, and already has some fun footage in it. The downfall is I can only shoot
the footage at certain times, and I can’t control those times. You’ll see what I
mean when the video is finished.
I’m really pleased with the response that the video contest idea is getting. Unfortunately,
I will have to already weed out a few suggestions for various reasons. Some people
are getting the idea of why I did this, and doing exactly as I thought – so that’s
good. I’ll put a quick notice on the home page about it, and then we’ll get new
ones I hope. I also know that once the newsletter goes out, we’ll get more suggestions.
I’m pretty excited.
I overslept today. Usually I leave for class 25 minutes before it starts. Well,
I woke up for class 25 minutes before it starts, so I was in a rush. I wasn’t very
presentable… I didn’t shower, I’m sure I smelled, and I hadn’t shaved in a couple
of days. It’s a good thing I didn’t shave either because man was the wind cold!
I can’t wait for winter. Very excited about it.
Friday, November 05, 2007
Lots of stuff done. Pretty sweet, eh? How about a
DVD? How about a contest? How about contacting me? Yep. Lots of done.
Thursday, November 01, 2007
As I sit back in my bed, there are a few things I am realizing as I reflect on my
day. The most obvious right now is that I either need to get my laptop back online,
or a wireless keyboard. Another is my bed is extremely uncomfortable. The third
is that either Rudy or Slacker smells.
But the most important is that I need to relax sometimes. I took a couple days off
from intensive stuff as I was sick. I haven’t vomited since I was in high school.
I forgot what a horrible feeling that can be. I think the worst is when you do throw
up, and you don’t feel any better. That’s what I had. I took time off to recover.
I watched a few movies and most importantly rested. I watched each one of my DVD’s.
I looked at a lot of my past projects. And I realized that I’ve accomplished a lot
so far. I should feel good.
But, I know I can do much more. Tonight, I spent the last hour or two working on
a new project that I’m liking. It isn’t groundbreaking, or anything like that. Just
practice. However, to get better, I need to experiment. It just feels like there
is little time to do so. However, this weekend, experimentation will happen. New
skills will come. Will you see them? Maybe. I don’t know. Expect bigness this weekend
though. I am also going to be making more blog posts steadily, and more informative.
Who gives a crap about cheese? You guys didn’t know I was sick. You didn’t know
my laptop was down. That’s the stuff that will be here. That’s what this was intended
for.
I also realize that I need another Pepsi.

Ok, I've neglected the site for almost a week. What's been going on.
School. I had a phyics test destroy me the other week, and I've been pulling up
my grade in that class. I've also had other classes to attend to. It adds up. I
also scheduled my classes for next semester, and they're much more schedule friendly
than they are this semester. It does look like I'll give school another semester.
I've been giving some SERIOUS thought to switching to an online school, and doing
it that way. Why not? All I care about is a stupid piece of paper.
I've also got to start planning for another set of updates to the site, mainily
the contact area and the contest. They'll be similar, but it still takes a little
planning. I've had some problems with my machine too not being able to log onto
some sites, so it has been driving me nuts. I haven't been able to devote enough
time to it because of all of the other activities I've had going on. Can't be too
hard to figure out
Cheese is another thing that's making its way into my life. Cheese has been getting
everywhere - on my sandwiches, chili, burgers, even popcorn! Stupid Velvita. Did
I spell that right? I don't care. Spicey salsa, cheese - sounds so good.

Let's discuss something very close to my heart- Toews' goal from last night. For
those of you who have missed it...
Beautiful, eh? It is. It is one of the most beautiful goals I've ever seen. I should
have gone to the game last night. I thought about it, but I just didn't have enough
energy or money to go. I did go last Saturday when they beat Dallas in overtime.
What a finish! The team is really exciting this year. They're not winning every
game, but they're not losing every game. None of the games have been blow outs.
I'm pretty sure they were all one goal games too. That makes for exciting hockey.
Let's talk a little bit about what's happening around the website. Lots of updates
last weekend. We put up two new videos from
Mi-lo, You're Hi. The first one that went up is
The White Stripes, and the second is
Saliva, which features my brother. There will only be one more video
put online from this disc, so enjoy them. The biggest update may be the
live chat. If you go to the webcam area, you'll see now that there is a
chatroom where you can talk to Larry Gasik, and other Larry Gasik fans. It isn't
always on, and is completely dependent on me having the camera on, so it won't always
be available. Check it out if you haven't already. I also have finally put up some
information in the about area. If you want, check that out. You may not get a ton
of information, but right now it is better than what I had. And as always, there
is something to be read in the blog type thing. Oh.. one last thing. Let's get some
more visitors coming here. I'm going to really start putting lots of new and interesting
stuff up here and there. I'm going to try to constantly be pulling new people here
and really build a nice community. Part of it is going to be putting the videos
on YouTube.
The only true benefit of doing this is pulling in new visitors. If there's any new
video, trust me - it'll be on LarryGasik.com first - not YouTube. If you have any
questions, discuss this in the forum. You do not have to be a member
to post here.
Starting next week (10/22), we'll have our first contest. Let me explain what it
is. You will send me a request for a video. You can tell me what song, what you'd
like me to do in the video, anything you want. I will then take the best ones, and
have everyone vote on which ones they'd like to see. So - let's say I get 20 entries.
I'll take six completely different ideas, and set up a poll for everyone to vote
on them. Be creative. I am open to pretty much everything. Don't pick the same types
of songs over and over. Pick different ones. It is your chance to see me do waht
you want. I'll have more details later. So visit back soon!

I saw two movies this weekend, and both were disappointments.
A Night at the Museum was ok. I thought it could have been a little bit better...
It really lacked something. It was a kids movie, and had some good parts, but nothing
really worth mentioning.
American Pie - Band Camp - I had No idea there was a fourth, and I know why i didn't
know. It isn't really the american Pie characters. It isn't Jim or anyone in the
original. The girls in it were amazing.... and there were some parts that were very
funny... It was good. It just wasn't comparable to any of the first two. Needless
to say, not kid friendly.

Lots to talk about. Let's talk about goals. This weekend there are lots of goals
for the site. Upgrades here and there. The biggest is the chatroom for the Webcam.
I'll change the webcam from the giant shot of the webcam, to a smaller picture,
with a chat. While there, you can chat with other people watching the camera. We'll
also be starting a few contests next week that I've been dragging my feet on. SO
I suggest you stick around here. I've been doing lots of stuff for everyone, so
check it out.

Today, we've got a few minor changes to the site. i've changed the header, which
has been on my to do list for a while. If you remember the Alpha site from long
ago, I also put that picture in the header, and pulled a little bit of blue out
of it. I tend to use blue too much, but I think it still looks good. We also will
have an older video put up over the weekend, and I'm not sure what I'll put up.
I'll also try and start putting up videos from Thaumaturgic.

I have a major treat for all of you who enjoy the DVDs. I was poking around some
of the old video directories today, and I was reminded of how unorganized I used
to be. It was ridiculous. All of the Mi-Lo stuff is under a directory called "New
Folder." To give you a hint as to how organized I am today, I dedicate an entire
hard drive to a DVD, and that hard drive is properly labeled. So I was poking around,
and I came across this pretty nifty menu system I had built. It was pretty cool.
It was intended to be for the second DVD, but for whatever reason, I scrapped this
menu system, all of the songs associated with it, and all of the art. It was called
"Damn, I Look Good." The date for this menu is September 06, 2004 so it is over
three years old. It is hard to believe I've been doing this stuff for so long. I
did do one of the scheduled songs from that DVD - it was Awful, by Hole. But the
rest of the songs, I never did a video for... or atleast it didn't get done.

I also put up another video today, the first video I ever did -
"Easy Target" by Blink-182. You'll see lots of different stuff in there
including pictures, transitions, rate variations.. It was the original video. That
is the one where it all started. I really like that video. It is still one of my
favorites. I remember all of the shenanigans that went into making it. I even remember
that when I was doing most of the shots, I had my chest taped up from just getting
out of the hospital. Good Times.

I'm very tired. So very very tired.
This weekend, I hope to really work on that media section, and put new stuff up
there. Have a good day everyone.

Midterms anyone? Got midterms going on. No Halo, no videos, no fun.
This sucks. But, Hockey season starts Thursday, and Saturday, I shall be chanting
Detroit Sucks!

10 Things You Can Do Today to Simplify Your Life
That's pretty cool. I think a lot of people could use something like this. I think
that just taking things in steps, and not trying to do too much at once is a great
way to get organized and feel accomplished all at once. Baby steps and repetition.

Lots of stuff happening today. Thaumaturgic being released, Halo 3, Foo Fighters.
Very happy.
Monday, September 17, 2007
We're inching closer and closer to the release of Thaumaturgic. At the same time,
we're inching closer to the release of Halo 3. Some people already have their copy of Halo 3. That's trash. Stupid illegal stuff.
However, I know that no one has a copy of Thaumaturgic yet. Why? Because Last night
was when I first started making final copies of the disc. Everything is done. I'm
just busy making copies now. They look great. I printed them on my laser printer
so the quality is meh. But it is economical, which is more important right now.
I have one whole copy fully assembled and stuff. I have a few cases put together,
and a few discs burned but the discs aren't labeled. It takes a lot of time to do
all of this.
The site is almost done too. I have to make a couple of pages and write a few things.
It'll be nice once everything is done. The hardest part will be maintaining everything.
It'll be good enough for when it goes live, but I know these things are never finished.

Today, my friend Nick is getting married. Nick is about 23ish, just graduated from
college, and has a great job at the bank. In the last year, he's gotten married
(today, gotten atleast one big promotion, and built a house), and graduated from
college. I just want to quickly wish him the best. He's one of the best guys I know
- he's a really good guy.
I want to wear a cape some day and get a wind machine... and... do I have to finish
this statement?
Friday, September 14, 2007
Over the past 66 hours, I've gotten about six hours of sleep. That's not very good.
I'm very tired. It was this class that I'm taking... very difficult. It requires
a lot of outside work, a lot of labs and homework and today we had our first exam
at 7:00 in the morning. Well, I was up until 12:00 doing work, and then woke up
at about 3:00 to prepare for the exam, and I think I did fairly well on it. I talked
to a few people outside of class and some of us did get similar answers, but no
one is really sure until the actual exam comes back anyway. When I did get home
though, I did get a chance to sleep for a few hours, so maybe its more like over
a span of 48 hours, I got 6 hours of sleep.
What woke me up from my sleep? It was one of the best rude awakinings I've had -
Rudy. While I was at class, mom took him to the vet, and he's back to normal. He
aparently had gas problems. So once that was fixed, he was back to normal. He's
skinny again, and you can feel his ribs because he hasn't eaten too much in the
past few days. But he woke me up, he was full of energy, and that made me feel much
better.
Thursday, September 13, 2007
Problem. Rudy is sick. He's getting the arthritis thing going where it hurts for
him to move at all. It really sucks. He cries all the time when he's like this bcause
he's in pain. We took him to the vet, and he said it's just arthritis and he's getting
old. There's nothing he can do. He was up all of last night. This morning around
2:00, he finally was able to fall asleep. At around 3:00, I tripped over him in
the dark and he never cried so loudly. I felt so bad. It wasn't bad or anything,
and I've tripped over him worse. He just wasn't expecting it. Today, he's been outside
all day on the porch. I know he loves it out here, so I left him out here. I put
a blanket out for him in the shade next to the door and his water bowl. I came home,
and he was knocked out... I couldn't wake him up - he was up all night. He did wake
up on his own though and aknowledge me. I pet him, but nothing like we usually do.
He's sleeping again. He looks so peaceful right now.

Dad came home yesterday from the golf shop with a new toy - a hybrid club. A Titelist
17 degree something. It isn't quite a wood, but it isn't an iron. So he takes it
out. He goes to 185 yards in our driving range. After about 15 shots, I can tell
he hits it straiter than his three or four iron. He tells me to try it. I say no
- I can't hit a wood. Anyway, he continues to convince me to try it. I take it,
swing away and it goes a little to the left, but the wind corrects it - right into
the hole. I know it wasn't there before because we just picked up balls from that
area. I also know it was mine because I remember it was a very clean Slazenger -
not to mention I saw it go right to the pin. So from 185 yards, I put it in the
hole. Take that Tiger Woods. First time I ever swung that club. Oh yea! Very excited
about that.
So anyway, today I worked on the site. I did the template, so all thats left is
al of the pages. Lost to do.
Tuesday, September 11, 2007
So today is the sixth year aniversary thing of 9/11 - one of the biggest bummer
days in my life. I remember that day pretty well. I didn't do anything at school.
Everyone was worried that they were going to attack our school - which was stupid
to me but whatever. I have a question though. I understand the putting of the flags
at half mast on important days such as today. I understand that when a former president
dies, we put the flag half mast. But why is it that I see the flag at half mast
every other day? Don't get me wrong, the stuff at Virginia Tech wasn't good in any
way but I don't think it deserves the US Flag to be at half mast. It isn't a hit
to the country in my opinion.
It's getting cold out side. Perhaps... could it be? Winter is coming?! Hockey anyone?

I found an old version of a Larry Gasik site that I started, but never finished
because I kept changing it. So I played with it a tiny bit and you're here now.
I'll keep toying with it, but I made a lot of progress on it.
Today's goals are to finish authoring the DVD today, and start making copies. I've
moved the target release day to
September 25, 2007.
Alright. Loads of stuff that needs to be done.
Saturday, September 8, 2007
For the first time in nearly two weeks, Gasik1417 returned to his console and Halo
2 to dominate the Xbox Live competition. King Ding-a-Ling was set to dominate throughout
the night, and was willing to back up his play with his mouth.
He failed miserbly.
Wow, I played bad last night. But I had a lot of time off, not to mention my fingers
were pretty sore from Guitar Hero a few hours earlier, some work, and other stuff.
Still, that's no excuse for poor play. However - I am STILL King Ding-a-Ling. Viper
called one game of KDAL, with about eight players on Ivory tower. When I had 1:05,
it was about a thirty second lead. Frustration for Viper set in and he ended the
game. That was the only game I was happy how I played. I had a total of five kills.
I am King Ding-a-Ling.
Ok. Just wanted to say how I rocked the house last night. It was great fun. Probably
going to do it again tonight.

Sometimes, you just need to relax. If you don't you're going to snap - like I did
this morning. This morning, at aroun 6:30 ish, I started to get really nervous becuase
I couldn't find my notebook. I needed it for my class that was in less than three
hours, and I wanted to review material in it. Couldn't find it. Looked for five
minutes. Turns out I didn't stop to think. I twas right under the text book for
that class. Work then got to be not so good, so I was pretty stresed. I went out,
and just went on the golf course and that couple of hours of putting was exactly
what I needed. Very relaxing.
So sit back, realx and calm down.
Sunday, September 2, 2007
Ok. So today was very productive. I have almost all of the footage shot for Thuamaturgic.
It isn’t as long as I’d like, and I think I could do better. But the problem is
I keep changing things. I have one video that was scheduled for the DVD that I’ve
reshot four times! Why do that? There’s another I’d like to reshoot, but there is
so much work that would needed to be done for that video, that I don’t really want
to do it again.
Anyway, continuing on this, I finished them up, and prepped them to be put on the
disc. I started designing the menu system, and am pleased with it so far. It’s going
much smoother than I had originally thought.
During the renders, capture, and other down times I’ve been thinking about the website
– what I want it to look like. I know how I work with that too… I’ll keep changing
things. So I’ll do what I do when I work. I’ll build in stages. The first
version of the site that people will see will be small, only a couple pages and
super simple navigation. Simple, yet classy is the goal.
