About Larry Gasik.com

LarryGasik.com 2.0

Moving away from the blue, black, green and purple color scheme, the website has been entirely overhauled. Not one bit of page structure has been reused. The only part that is the same is the content, and perhaps a few images. Using a new design, the site allows for more freedom in the content of its pages.

LarryGasik.com 2.0 was built using ASP.net 2.0 with a plan to conver to ASP.net 3.5 in the near future. Using SQL Server as a database tool, it added a much needed way organizing information. This also allows membership privlages. With the membership privlages through the .Net framework that are slightly modified, content will be delivered in a whole new way. For example, users without login information will not be allowed to gain access to certain areas of the site. Users who are logged in may get additional content, such as videos, blog posts, and pictures depending on what level of access is granted to them. Jquery is also used to add some additional wow factors to the site, and make it more convient to get to content.

LarryGasik.com 1.0

The first true version of the site that wasn't a placeholder turned out to be a moderate success. Originally intended to be a playground for Larry in his development career, it morphed into a fan site, hosting videos, blog posts, and links to internet content that was enjoyed.

Nearly entirely client side driven, the site lacked a true reason to return and made it extremely difficult to update. This would cause month long droughts in the update world, and ultimately lead to its own destruction.

LarryGasik.com 0.5

In the begining, there was no true website. It served as a placeholder for the site and to allow users to know that there was a site in progress. Based off of two colors, there were two pages in the entire site, and it refered to two more. The biggest draw was the WebCam, which offered a live feed of Larry at random times. It also tied into the Gasik.com forum, allowing users to communicate with each other.
